What sets Bernat yarn apart

Every main Blanket variation, from Stripes to Tweeds, knits at 8 stitches by 13 rows on an 8 mm needle and crochets at 7 single crochet by 8 rows on an 8 mm hook. A blanket that combines Coal with Ocean Teal Ombre therefore holds its width from one color block to the next. Baby Blanket yarn is the one to watch: its crochet gauge is 8 sc on a 6.5 mm hook.

Fibers, blends and care

A throw that grows fast
Blanket Extra Thick knits at 2.5 stitches on a 25 mm needle, so each row covers a lot of ground. One 600 g ball holds only 72 yd, though, which runs out sooner than the weight suggests. Count balls for the full width of the throw before casting on.
A first set of baby clothes
Baby cardigans and hats call for a light #3 yarn on 4 mm needles, and Softee Baby fits that brief in pastel shades such as Pink, Soft Lilac and Aqua. Three balls of 362 yd come in each pack. If the pattern asks for crochet rather than knitting, Baby Sport gives a 16 sc gauge on a 4 mm hook.
